MIDC installs electromagnetic flow meters at Shilphata to curb wastage

The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), project of the government of Maharashtra state in India and is the leading corporation of Maharashtra, has installed electromagnetic flow meters at their Shilphata site in order to reduce wastage while supplying to Trans-Thane Creek (TTC) industrial area.

"The electromagnetic flow meters will immediately notify any leaks or thefts through damaged pipelines to the server installed at Shilphata. The company, Endress Hauser, has earlier installed the system for Pune Municipal Corporation," a spokesperson told The Times of India.

MIDC executive engineer, Prakash Chavan told Times of India that they installed the technology to save as much water as possible. The daily water requirement in TTC is around 50 MLD.

This new system will reduce the non-revenue water (NRW) — the difference between water entering the system and water billed to customers. The system will also impact losses through leaks and through unauthorised use or metering inaccuracies, added spokesman.
