Renold Couplings invests in manufacturing equipment

Renold Couplings is making a significant investment in the future of its Cardiff manufacturing facility.

The investment centres on the installation of new machines to increase production and reduce lead times of couplings manufactured at the site.

Two of the machines are now fully operational, with a further two to follow later in 2016.

“With the DMG Mori-Seiki NLX2500 CNC lathe and NTX2000 machining centre replacing legacy equipment, it will allow us to produce components that are fully machined and de-burred with no additional operations required,” said manufacturing engineer Tim Phillips.

“This is a vast improvement on the previous setup and will not only streamline the production process, but also ensure that the parts are also manufactured more accurately and to a higher quality.”

Renold Couplings manufactures industrial components, ranging from fluid couplings to sprag clutches, designed and manufactured at its Cardiff facility.

In 2016 Renold is celebrating its 70th year of manufacturing in the city.
